Lunette Cambodia: Fried Chicken Rice at the Ferry Building

Lunette is a Cambodian stall inside the Ferry Building. The fried chicken rice and shrimp noodle soup are both under $20 and worth the stop.

Lunette Cambodia is at Suite 33/47 inside the Ferry Building. The counter is open, the kitchen is right there, and the mural behind it does most of the work on the space.

Lunette Cambodia stall with colorful Cambodian mural and open kitchen counter

It’s one of the Ferry Building’s made-to-order spots — order at the counter, food comes out fast. The mural behind the stall pulls from Cambodian iconography and gives it more presence than a typical food hall counter.

Fried chicken over jasmine rice with chili dipping sauce and pickled ginger — Lunette Cambodia

The fried chicken rice came with a dark chili dipping sauce and pickled ginger on the side. Light crisp batter, stayed juicy underneath, and the sauce had enough heat to matter. The jasmine rice was plain, which was right — it doesn’t need to compete.

Shrimp noodle soup with flat rice noodles, whole shrimp, cilantro, and bean sprouts — Lunette Cambodia

The shrimp noodle soup had a clear broth with flat rice noodles, whole shrimp, and a heap of cilantro and bean sprouts on top. The broth was light but had depth — not heavy, more like something that had been going for a while. Good bowl.

Both dishes were under $20. It doesn’t take long — order at the counter, food comes out quickly. Worth stopping here next time you’re at the Ferry Building.
