Volunteers Mobilize for Recall Against Alameda DA Pamela Price
Volunteers began collecting signatures to recall Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price in October 2023.
Volunteers began collecting signatures in East Oakland on October 15, 2023, for a campaign to recall Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price. Some volunteers had lost family members to gun violence and argued that Price’s policies put too little weight on victims.
James Burch, deputy director of The Anti Police-Terror Project, criticized the recall campaign, accusing it of leveraging people’s pain for political gains. Burch and other supporters contend that Price was elected to reform the justice system and should not be blamed for pre-existing crime rates.
Supporters disputed the claim that the campaign was driven only by Republicans; several petition signers identified themselves as Democrats.
The campaign organizers aim to collect approximately 90,000 signatures before their deadline in March 2024.
