Views from Bernal Heights and Dolores Heights

Two SF hilltop views: Dolores Heights over Dolores Park toward downtown, and Bernal Heights summit panorama of the whole city. Both walkable on the same trip.

Dolores Heights looks north over Dolores Park toward downtown. You can see the Salesforce Tower, the Transamerica Pyramid, and rows of Victorian houses running downhill. On a clear day, the East Bay hills are visible beyond the skyline. Late afternoon light is good here.

Bernal Heights Park sits on a grassy hilltop south of the Mission. The summit trail is a short, steep walk from the neighborhood streets below. From the top, you get a full 360-degree panorama. Downtown and the Bay Bridge are to the north, Twin Peaks and Sutro Tower to the west, and San Bruno Mountain to the south. Dogs are off-leash up here, so expect company.

Both spots are walkable on the same afternoon. Dolores Heights gives you a framed city view. Bernal Heights gives you the whole sweep. Head down to the Mission afterward for Oaxacan food, ramen, or boba. For the park itself at the foot of Dolores Heights, Dolores Park on a summer morning covers what the park is like at ground level.
