Teeing Off at Subpar Miniature Golf

Subpar miniature golf at Ghirardelli Square. 18 holes based on SF landmarks. Golden Gate, Bay Bridge, Painted Ladies.

Subpar is indoor miniature golf at Ghirardelli Square. 18 holes, all based on SF landmarks. You putt through the Golden Gate Bridge, around the Painted Ladies, past the Bay Bridge. Everything is miniature versions of the actual buildings.

The holes are harder than they look. The Painted Ladies hole has tight angles. The cable car setup makes you bank shots. We both shot over par.

It cost $20 per person on a weekend. Takes about an hour to get through all 18 holes. They have beer if you want to make it longer.

Good for tourists or if you’re stuck inside on a foggy day. Kids would like it. The course is well-made, not cheap plastic stuff.

Ghirardelli Square has chocolate shops and restaurants nearby. You’re right by the waterfront and Aquatic Park. If you’re already here for other reasons, the golf is a solid add-on.
