Taqueria Vallarta reopening
Taqueria Vallarta reopened on 24th Street after a six-month health-department closure, serving $4 tacos from its round plancha again.
Taqueria Vallarta is back open on 24th Street. They got shut down by the health department for six months. Now they’re cleaned up and serving again.
The spot is at 3033 24th, between Harrison and Alabama. They cook on a round plancha. Al pastor comes with grilled pineapple. Carne asada is good too. Tacos cost $4 at the time of this visit.
These are central Mexican style tacos. Not Oaxacan, not Yucatan. Just solid street tacos. The meat gets crispy on the edges from the plancha.
[!TIP] Cash only. Get the al pastor with grilled pineapple—it’s the move.
They’re cash only, open late most nights. The dining room is small, maybe six tables. Most people order to go.
If you’re in the area and want tacos, Vallarta does the job. If you specifically want Oaxacan flavors, Donaji is a few blocks away. You can get boba after on the same street.
More taco and Mission food stops are in the Mission District guide.
