10 Freeway fire found to be intentional
LA's 10 Freeway fire confirmed as arson. Closure map, affected ramps, and what Governor Newsom said about the Apex Development connection.
Someone set fire under the 10 Freeway in downtown LA. The blaze melted steel guardrails and damaged over 100 supporting columns. Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass held a press conference calling it arson.
The fire started near East 14th and Alameda, within the fence line of Apex Development Inc., a company already in litigation with the state. Newsom pointed to the connection directly.
Over 100 columns took damage, some severe enough to raise demolition questions alongside repair. The freeway shut down in both directions.
