Thanks Trevor Noah for getting San Francisco wrong

The Daily Show labeled San Luis Obispo as San Francisco on a California map — a small mixup that says a lot about how the state gets flattened on national TV.

Caught this on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah: a map of California with San Francisco labeled roughly where San Luis Obispo actually sits, more than three hours south of the real city.

It’s a small error, but it’s the kind that keeps happening on national broadcasts. California gets treated as a single blur between Los Angeles and San Francisco, and everything in between — the Central Coast, the Central Valley, half the state’s geography — gets compressed or mislabeled.

San Luis Obispo residents would probably take issue with becoming San Francisco for a night. Someone on the graphics team needs a better map.
